@Jako32 It makes you think though. Was it truly the public that backlashed her, or was it the media? I would say it was a combination of both, but, like with all entertainment venues, the media is in the driver seat of what is commonly seen as "public opinion". She survived, and? is the legend she is today with the scars and bruises of this era proudly displayed alongside her greatest and most gleaming of acheivements.

Jay took the Tonight Show to New York for a week not long after, which prompted her "gentleman in New York" comment.
